Do levels past 20 give aynthing special past some skill points, or do the difficuluty levels of the NG+ modes not increase very quickly?

Now that you say this I think the best option for tweaking merc mode would be a large gold bonus. The host upgrades his town, which is used for the party, but the guests also get the same amount as the host and can immediatly use the ore in their singeplayer runs.
